Trans Mountain Pipeline ULC - Mainline Optimization Project

Project Background

Trans Mountain Pipeline ULC has filed an application for the Mainline Optimization Project. The project is intended to provide approximately 210,000 bbl/d of incremental transportation capacity on the Trans Mountain Pipeline (TMPL) system. The proposed project includes several components:

• Construction of approximately 30 kilometres (km) of new mainline pipeline within the existing Trans Mountain Pipeline corridor, starting near Darfield, BC and ending near McLure, BC.
• Addition of nine mainline valves along Line 2.
• Construction of four new pump stations and expansion of seven existing pump stations and facilities.
• Installation of Drag Reducing Agents (DRA) units at four pump stations.
• Construction of approximately 9 km of power lines.
• Additional deactivation, decommissioning, and upgrades of existing pipelines and facilities.
