TransCanada PipeLines Limited – Stittsville Compressor Station Integrity Project

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Project Background

TransCanada PipeLines Limited (TCPL), has filed an application for the Stittsville Compressor Station Integrity Project. The proposed project involves installation of approximately 80 m of new NPS 42 pipe to connect the existing MLV 1216 to MLV 1217 Line 1200–2 to the existing MLV 1217 to 1218 Line 1200-2. The Project will enable continuous inline inspection of Line 1200–2 from MLV 1201 at North Bay Compressor Station (C/S) to MLV 1401 at Iroquois C/S. The project will be located entirely within the TCPL Stittsville C/S property, at property identifier PIN 04447–0015 (LT), in the City of Ottawa, Ontario. Approximately 0.38 ha of temporary workspace will be required outside of the C/S yard. This workspace will be required on the north side of the C/S yard for storing material. The Project will also utilize an existing graveled area outside the east side of the C/S fence for office trailers, parking and storage. A zero–pressure outage is required during construction. A transfer compressor will be used to reduce pressure before the outage. After the outage the existing pipeline caps will be cut off to allow the new pipe to be welded into the pipeline. The maximum operating pressure of the new pipe will match the existing pipe at 6,895 kPa.

Project construction is planned to commence on 20 May 2025, with an expected Project in–service date in August 2025.
