Project Background

TransCanada PipeLines Limited (TCPL) has filed a project application for the Geraldton Meter Station Expansion Project. The project involves installation of a new Low Volume Sales station including: a new building, an NPS 1 turbine meter and an NPS 3 turbine meter in parallel to manage seasonal flows and a 16.5 m) x 7.5 m meter run building skid at the existing Geraldton Meter Station site. The project also involves associated facility piping, valves, instrumentation, controls, communications devices, and pipeline appurtenances. A temporary bypass will be installed upstream of the existing Geraldton meter skid building (totaling approximately 25 m of NPS 1 pipe) where an existing plugged NPS1 valve is located. The project will also include decommissioning by removal of the existing Geraldton meter building and above grade piping within the meter station boundary and decommissioning in-place of the existing below grade piping. The project will be located on Crown land under an existing disposition and TCPL-owned land, approximately 4.5 km north of Geraldton, Ontario.

The new metering facility will establish a connection between the Customer’s gas plant to the Canadian Mainline System and tie-in on the NPS 30 Line 100-1 and the NPS 42 Line 100-3. The targeted in-service date is June 2023.
